"Wait"
I'm so proud of Elise! She asked me if she could take a bath this morning and I said, "No, we'll take one at nighttime" and she made the sign and said "wait". Woohoo! I didn't think she'd understand this concept but she does! One word can go a long way with an impulsive and impatient toddler.

Found another house!
We found another house that we are seriously thinking about. We checked it out today we really love it. We're going to be doing some serious number crunching over the next few days to see if this could work!

Parenting
Sorry for the lack of posts but we've been busy with it being the end of the semester!
I just wanted to quickly write that Bry and I are amazed at how EASY Elise has been lately. She is always happy....dancing, laughing, joking, playing, etc. She is rarely moody and only cries when she has separation anxiety (she's definitely much more sensitive in this area compared to other kids). She's always been a pretty easy and mellow baby/toddler, but these days, it just seems like she is always smiling or laughing. We just love it. I know the terrible 2s are probably right around the corner and so I'm just going to savor this period.
People have been commenting to use that she is very "social". She loves saying hi and bye to people and she even asks them to sing a song together. She is starting to recognize our friends and will sit in their laps, hold their hands, interact with them, etc. She is still as chatty as ever and can probably say at least 100 words now. When we are with other friends with similar aged kids, I notice that she is the most active out of all of them-- exploring every nook and cranny and trying to be a ham.
It is neat to see her personality emerge. I am soooo glad that she has a sunny disposition!

Separation Anxiety
It has now been a little over 2 months since Elise transitioned from Olivia's home to Angelica's home for her daycare. She did not take the transition well and became extra clingy in all other areas of her life. Within the last week or so, she has FINALLY stopped crying at drop-off, but she still cries whenever we leave her at the church nursery, life group nursery, or when she's with my mom and I leave them. It's been stressful on all of us and it makes me sad to think that she was somewhat traumatized with the daycare setting change.
She is transitioning to preschool starting this August and I am REALLY stressed out about it! I don't think Elise is going to handle it well and so I'm trying to think of ways to make the transition easier for her. I've also driven myself crazy reading research that says that it's best for a baby to be home with their mom for the first 2 years of life, which is of course, impossible for us. So I'm just going to start praying now that the transition is as seamless as it can be. I do envy moms who can stay at home for those first critical years and I hope that by the time Elise is a mom that the workplace will allow for more flexibility for families.
Anyway, here are some of the things I'm going to do to prepare Elise for preschool:

- Buy her a backpack that she can start using with Angelica so that she associates it with school
- Visit the preschool a few times this summer so that she can become familiar with it
- Read books about kids going to school. Thankfully, there are a lot out there since this is a common problem
- Try to get a photo of her teacher (learned this from Amy)
- Have playdates with Toby and Sarah, both of whom will be in her class

Daphne's tongue and bounce house
We made a little photobook for Elise so that she can familiarize herself with all the important people in her life. We included a picture of Elliott and a tongue-wagging Daphne. When Elise saw the photo, she started cracking up because she thought it was so funny that Daphne's tongue was sticking out. I wish I had video of that moment of her laughing and copying Daphne. Here's another video of her and Daphne, and also identifying Habi, Hami, and Nana.
I just dropped Elise and my mom off at an indoor playground. We haven't been in a long time and when Elise walked in, she started screaming, jumping, and just being in a general state of euphoria. She ran straight to the bounce house and rolled around (not bounced) to her heart's content. Here's a video:
