week 5 update

i'm really bad about this photo posting thing. i think there are too many steps between taking the photos and getting them uploaded that discourage us from posting. all this to say, i'll post her 1 month photo soon. i bought monthly birthday stickers to commemorate these grand occasions. ;) we're really looking forward to april when we upgrade to iphones...i think we'll be posting a lot of photos that way. i may just post low-quality ones with now.

anyway, here are some memories i wanted to record:

• elise has started to do a breathy type of laugh. she started 2 weeks ago and they are sporadic and impossible to capture on video. of course she only laughs (and for the most part, smiles) when she is being held
• she does not like having her arms swaddled and yet her flailing arms prevent her from sleeping deeply. so now we have resorted to just swaddling one arm
• mommy got sick a few days ago and we believe elise did, too, for about one day, but she recovered very quickly! a sick baby is not fun!
• she eats between every 3-4 hours, which is a pretty long stretch compared to most babies who eat eat every 2-3 hours. as tired parents, we're thankful for this, but at the same time, our lactation consultants are telling us to wake her up because she is still learning how to breastfeed.
• she consistently wakes up at 1 am and 5 am for nighttime feedings. not too bad!
• mommy is sick of pumping 8 times a day. :( please pray for established nursing and good milk supply!
• she still has the funniest hand motions. she has really long fingers and likes to keep them in weird contortions around her face
• we introduced the bottle last week (after using sns finger feeding) and she gained a lot of weight! she is now over 9 pounds.
  
• she's already developing into a little foodie as she does NOT like sensitive formula (hey, it was on sale). it's a good thing she is not an extra gassy or fussy baby.
• i found some natural diapers on sale and it got rid of her diaper rash! happy mommy!
